Asset Protection Using Trusts

Trusts may be presented to you for protecting your assets.  This idea, although it can be a solution, is offered by many planners and legal counsels as a solution which contains traps for the person without legal or tax knowledge.

In laymen terms:  If you

• Benefit from the trust
• Control the trust
• Control the trustee
• Use only related party trustees or beneficiaries
• Can revoke the trust

There will be no asset protection for any causes of action against you.
