Sarasota Historical Comments

Below is an aerial photograph of the island.  Longboat Key is a city of about 8,000 full-time residents.  During the winter months the tourists will make the island fairly full with about 22,000 on the island during the peak months.  The land area is between four and five square miles.  The location of our stay is at the top of the photo. which is approximately north.  At the top of the picture is a bridge to another island - Anna Maria Island.  At the bottom of the photograph is City Island and Lido Key.  This area is just off the coast of Sarasota.  South of Tampa, North of Ft Myers.  Longboat has a few activities during the year, however most of the activities are in Sarasota.  Sarasota has some attractions that might interest you.  If you can find the time and make the trip - it will be a long one, you are certainly invited.  We would love to show you the attractions.  Some of the attractions will change depending upon the season.  Sarasota (population)  is about the size of Lubbock Texas or Springfield Illinois.  longboat_aerial.jpg (230637 bytes)
