CP 12 - Math Error -
Overpayment of $1 or More

What is the notice telling me?

This notice is telling you that IRS changed your return because of a mistake you made. Because of the mistake, the refund IRS are sending you may be different than what you expected. The second page of the notice describes the mistakes.

What do I have to do?

If you agree with the changes IRS made to your tax return, you do not need to do anything. If you think the IRS  made a mistake, call Bob Parrish CPA.

How much time do I have?

If you do not agree with the changes shown on the notice, you have 60 days from the date of the notice to appeal them. To do this, send BOB PARRISH CPA your explanation with a copy of the notice to BOB PARRISH CPA.

CP 14 - Balance Due, No Math Error

What is the notice telling me?

This notice is telling you that you have a balance due on one of your tax accounts. It tells how much you owe and for which tax year you owe it. The notice includes a breakdown of your payments, your tax, and any penalties and interest that IRS have assessed.

What do I have to do?

Pay the amount due as shown on the notice. Mail IRS your payment in the envelope IRS sent you. Include the bottom part of the notice to make sure IRS correctly credit your account.

If you cannot pay, call BOB PARRISH CPA to discuss your options.

How much time do I have?

The first paragraph of the notice asks that you pay the full amount by a certain date. If you pay by that date, IRS will not charge additional penalties or interest.

Who should I contact?

If you have any questions about the amount you owe, call BOB PARRISH CPA. The person who answers the phone can answer those questions, as well as any others you may have about the notice.

What If I don't agree or have already taken corrective action?

You may have recently paid the amount you owe. If so, or if you have arranged for an installment agreement, disregard the notice.

CP 49 - Overpaid Tax Applied
to Other Taxes You Owe

What is the notice telling me?

This notice is telling you that IRS applied all or part of your overpayment to an amount you owed on another tax year. It shows the tax year to which IRS applied the overpayment and any remaining balance due. If IRS applied only part of your overpayment, the notice also shows the amount IRS will refund to you.

What do I have to do?

The CP 49 notice is for your information only. It is not a bill. It does not require you to respond.

How much time do I have?

The notice may show an amount still due on another tax year. If it does, pay it as soon as possible to avoid additional penalties and interest.

What if I don't agree or have already taken corrective action?

You may have recently made a payment toward the amount you owe on the other tax year. If IRS had not processed your payment when IRS sent you the notice, you may receive a refund of all or part of your payment. If so and you do not receive a refund within six weeks, call IRS at 1-800-829-8815.

CP 161 - No Math Error, Balance Due

What is the notice telling me?

This notice is telling you that you have a balance due on one of your tax accounts. It tells how much you owe and for which tax year you owe it. The notice includes a breakdown of your payments, your tax, and any penalties and interest that IRS have assessed.

What do I have to do?

Pay the amount due as shown on the notice. Mail IRS your payment in the envelope IRS sent you. Include the bottom part of the notice to make sure IRS correctly credit your account.

How much time do I have?

CP 501 - Reminder Notice - Balance Due

What is the notice telling me?

This notice is telling you that you have a balance due on one of your tax accounts. This is the first notice you will receive to remind you of this balance due.

What do I have to do?

Pay the amount due as shown on the notice. Mail IRS your payment in the envelope IRS sent you. Include the bottom part of the notice to make sure IRS correctly credit your account.

If you can't pay the whole amount now, call BOB PARRISH CPA to see if you qualify for an installment agreement.

How much time do I have?

You should contact BOB PARRISH CPA as soon as possible.

What happens if I don't pay?

If you don't pay or make arrangements to pay, and other attempts to collect the money fail, one option available to IRS is to file a Notice of Federal Tax Lien. The lien gives IRS a legal claim to your property as security or payment for your tax debt.

CP 504 - Urgent Notice - Balance Due

What is the notice telling me?

This notice is telling you that IRS intend to issue a levy against your state tax refund because you still have a balance due on one of your tax accounts. It is also telling you that IRS will begin searching for other assets on which to issue a levy and that IRS may also file a Federal Tax Lien, if IRS have not already done so.

What do I have to do?

Pay the amount due as shown on the notice. Mail IRS your payment in the envelope IRS sent you. Include the bottom part of the notice to make sure IRS correctly credit your account.

If you can't pay the whole amount now, call BOB PARRISH CPA to see if you qualify for an installment agreement.

How much time do I have?

You should contact BOB PARRISH CPA or pay your balance due immediately.

What happens if I don't pay?

What is the notice telling me?

This notice is telling you that IRS have not received a tax return from you for the period shown on the notice.

What do I have to do?

File your return. If you have already filed it, send BOB PARRISH CPA a signed and dated copy. You may complete the attached Form 9358, Information About Your Tax Return, and send it to BOB PARRISH CPA instead.

How much time do I have?

You need to file your return today.

CP 518 - Final Notice of Overdue Tax Return

What is the notice telling me?

This notice is telling you to contact IRS immediately because IRS have not received a tax return from you for the period shown on the notice.

What do I have to do?

File your return. If you have already filed it, send BOB PARRISH CPA a signed and dated copy. You may complete the attached Form 9358, Information About Your Tax Return, and send it to BOB PARRISH CPA instead. Call BOB PARRISH CPA immediately to let BOB PARRISH CPA know that you have done this.

How much time do I have?

You must take action today.

CP 523 - Notice of Default
on Installment Agreement

What is the notice telling me?

This notice is telling you that IRS intend to terminate your installment agreement. IRS may also issue a levy against your wages and/or bank accounts. The notice tells you the specific reason for this action. Some examples are:

  • You missed a payment.
  • You have a new balance due
  • You didn't file your tax return.

What do I have to do?

Contact BOB PARRISH CPA. Let BOB PARRISH CPA know what you will do to correct the problem. Bob Parrish CPA will contact the IRS for you and represent you in this matter.

How much time do I have?

You have 30 days from the date of the notice to contact us.

Who should I contact?

If you have any questions about the notice, call Bob Parrish CPA. The person who answers the phone will assist you.

What if I don't agree or have already taken corrective action?

If you do not agree with the reason that IRS are canceling your installment agreement, contact Bob Parrish CPA.

CP 2000 - Notice of Proposed Adjustment
for Underpayment/Overpayment

What is the notice telling me?

The notice is telling you that IRS are proposing a tax increase on your account. IRS received information from your employer or other source of income regarding income that you did not include on your tax return.

What do I have to do?

If you agree with the proposed tax increase or tax decrease shown on the notice, check the "I/We Agree Box" and sign the Response page. If you are married and filed a joint return, both you and your spouse must sign.

If the IRS proposal leaves you with a balance due, you may choose to pay it through an Installment Agreement. If you chose to do this, contact Bob Parrish CPA.   The office staff will assist you by requesting certain information needed to request an installment agreement, complete the request and communicate with the IRS for you.

How much time do I have?

You have 30 days from the date of the notice to send IRS your signed response.

What if I don't agree or have already taken corrective action?

If you disagree with IRS proposal, check the "I/We Disagree Box". Send it along with any documentation (records, corrected statements, forms, etc.) to support your disagreement, TO BOB PARRISH CPA.
